Creamsicle Smoothie!

What a treat it was today to have created a childhood favorite flavor into a smoothie! Creamsicle. Yesterday I was fortunate enough to find a bargain on all natural frozen fruit with no sugar, preservatives, or other ingredients in them. I found 100% fruit where the only ingredient was the fruit for only $1.00 a bag. So of course I had to stock up on them. I found this great find at the Dollar Tree store.

Recipe

1 cup of frozen peaches

1 carrot cut into pieces

1 cup of pineapple

1 cup of frozen yogurt (I used vanilla)

2 cups of pineapple orange juice (100% juice, not cocktail)

Water if needed

Directions

Cut carrots into small pieces. This makes it easier to blend, especially if you do not own one of the more expensive blenders that chop and blend whole fruits and veggies whole. Next add additional ingredients and blend until smooth. Add water if you like a thinner consistency.  Enjoy!

When I first set out to make this smoothie I didn't intend to add yogurt. However, when I tasted the finished product without the yogurt it reminded of a childhood favorite flavor, creamsicle! My son and I both said it reminded us of a creamsicle, and if it had a cream flavor in it it would taste exactly like a creamsicle. So of course we both said, yogurt! The vanilla yogurt was the perfect addition to this smoothie. We recreated a healthy version of the old fashioned creamsicle treat.

This is what the smoothie looked like before we added the yogurt. It was a much brighter orange.

Green Apple, Celery, and Spinach Juice Smoothie

Keeping with the EVERYTHING GREEN! Theme, we added our refreshing green smoothie. It is easy to make, and good for you.  For those of you who do not particularly like your green veggies, this is a great way to get those green leafy veggies into your diet. You can add spinach to any smoothie and you will not taste the spinach, especially if you are adding the spinach to a fruit smoothie. The natural sweetness of the fruit will mask any hint of spinach. This is a great way to sneak those greens into your kids diets.

Recipe

2 Green apples, cored. (You can leave the skin on or take it off. I left it on)
2 Stalks of celery
1 Bunch of spinach, about a handful (More or less as preferred)
1 1/2 Cup of apple juice

Blend ingredients. If you do not have a very good blender or if you would like to make your green smoothie into a juice, simply pour the smoothie through a fine strainer to remove the pulp. Press the pulp down with a spatula or spoon to get all of the juice!

Pineapple, Peach, Banana, and Lemon Smoothie

Smoothies are a great way to fit more nutrition in
your day. Smoothies are easy and can be prepared ahead of time by refrigerating them. I make a whole pitcher for the family so this recipe is for a blender pitcher full.

Recipe

2-3 Bananas
4 peaches
1 can pineapple tidbits with natural juices
1 Lemon (Squeeze the juice of one lemon)
Vanilla yogurt
Ice
Water

Directions: Blend together!

Coconut Banana Smoothie!

I cannot think of two ingredients that go together better than coconut and bananas! Truly a match made in heaven. A creamy delightful treat that hits every note on your taste buds! This creamy smoothie is great all year long.  A blend of coconut milk, and bananas makes this smoothie dense in nutrients and can be eaten between meals or as a desert without the sugar!

I used unsweetened coconut milk. The sweetness from the bananas gives this smoothie plenty of sweetness!

Recipe

2 Cups coconut milk
3 Bananas
Ice
Cinnamon 1/2 Teaspoon (More if you desire)
Allspice 1/4 Teaspoon

Directions

Blend all ingredients and enjoy! As always you can add or subtract ingredients to fulfill your individual desire. This makes about 21/2  and 16 Ounce Mason Jars.
